Job description
Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities
- Host and present regular entertainment events, including quiz nights, bingo, themed games and other student activities.
- Welcome participants and clearly explain the event format, rules and prizes.
- Develop original and engaging quiz questions, games and event content.
- Create and propose themed event concepts throughout the academic year for approval by the Venue Management Team.
- Deliver quiz questions and event content confidently, clearly and at an engaging pace.
- Manage event timing, scoring and quiz rounds accurately throughout each event.
- Create an energetic, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation from all attendees.
- Adapt your hosting style to suit different audiences, event themes and attendance levels.
- Make announcements promoting prizes, venue offers, Students' Union activities and upcoming events.
- Encourage repeat attendance by delivering consistently engaging experiences.
- Work collaboratively with the venue team to ensure events run safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Set up, test and pack away microphones, presentation equipment, games materials and other event resources.
- Resolve minor issues professionally and seek support from management where required.
- Gather customer feedback where appropriate to help improve future events.
- Represent Greenwich Students' Union in a professional, approachable and positive manner at all times.

- Deliver friendly, professional, safe and efficient customer service to all guests.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all students feel comfortable participating.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with colleagues across Commercial Services.
- Prepare all event materials and equipment before each event and ensure they are stored correctly afterwards.
- Promote venue offers, commercial activities and Students' Union events where appropriate.
- Maintain high standards of personal presentation by wearing the required uniform or themed dress where applicable.
- Attend work fit for duty and never under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances.
- Maintain excellent punctuality and reliability.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
- Work within operational procedures, licensing, health, and safety policies, safeguarding, hygiene and other regulations pertaining to the operation of the venue, ensuring all staff are trained appropriately.
- Adhere to all GSU policies related to HR, staffing, health and safety, data protection, environment, and any other specific GSU Policy impacting your role or that of the team.
General Responsibilities
- Represent and be an ambassador for GSU.
- Be flexible and carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop, or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the position.
- Abide by organisational policies, codes of conduct and practices.

- Treat with confidentiality any personal, private, or sensitive information about individual organisations, clients, staff, and Project data.

Personal Specification
Essential Attributes
- Current University of Greenwich/Kent student (not graduating before Summer 2027).
- Confident and engaging public speaker.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Friendly, enthusiastic and approachable personality.
- Creative with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Reliable, punctual and well organised.
- Comfortable speaking to both small and large groups.
- Able to think on your feet and adapt to changing situations.
- Available to work evenings and occasional weekends.
- Passionate about creating enjoyable student experiences.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience hosting quizzes, bingo, games nights or other live entertainment events.
- Experience in public speaking, acting, performing or presenting.
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience.
- Knowledge of popular culture, music, film, television, sport and current affairs.
- Experience using presentation software, microphones or audio-visual equipment.
- Experience creating engaging social or entertainment content.
Personal Attributes and Other Requirements
- All Commercial Services staff may be asked to work at other campus outlets on an ad hoc basis to assist with day-to-day operations and events.

CONDITIONS: Contract Casual - Student Staff
Hours Zero hours per week.
Salary £12.71ph + Paid holiday on top of your hourly rate of 12.07% per hour
